Mick Jenkins, No Name Gypsy, Chelsea RJCT, Joey Bada$$, And More Bring Chi-Town to NYC
Chicago has come to New York and what a perfect mix it was. These artists brought the local flavor from Chicago and repped to the fullest alongside ProEra member Mick Jenkins, Noname Gypsy, Joey Bada$$, NYC native Kirk Knight, Pro Era, Saba, and Brooklyn’s Chelsea Reject took the stage at a sold out show at SOBs in New York City Wednesday, February 11th, 2015. Cinematic World Wide partnered with Mick Jenkins and Kirk Knight for their first heading joint tour which kicks off in Cleveland, OH on Feb. 8th.
Brooklyn’s own Chelsea Reject, T’Nah Apex, and CJ Fly started off the night with a crowd favorite “Go”. Chelsea Reject is a female emcee who has opened up for the likes of Iggy Azela, Talib Kweli, Twista, Isaiah Rashad, Mobb Deep, Buckshot, Sean Price, Smif N Wessun and more. Chicago’s underground has shifted to a new echelon of talent and one of best is female rapper No Name Gypsy. No Name Gypsy has been on the peripheries of widespread attention after her collaboration with Chance on Acid Rap‘s 5th track, “Lost”. No Name had everyone singing along and even shared a unreleased track from Chance the Rapper‘s upcoming album “Surf”. Be sure to look also look out for No Name Gypsy’s album “Telephone”.
“DRINK MORE WATER!” everyone screamed last night when Mick Jenkins got on stage. Last year, Mick gained considerable attention after releasing his stellar The Water[s] mixtape, collaborating with the likes of Chance The Rapper and Joey Bada$$, and turning heads in the underground scene, he capped off 2014 opening up for Method Man and Redman on their nationwide Smokers Club Tour.
